Devon Joiner
Devon Joiner, 18, is a second-year Bachelor of Music student at the University of British Columbia studying with Jane Coop.
His previous teachers include Diana Lawton and Lynne Gauthier. At age 14, Mr. Joiner received his ARCT Diploma. He has won many awards including first place at the Canadian Music Competition and the Performing Arts BC Festival, third place at the BC Piano Competition and fourth place at the Canadian Chopin Competition. He was a winner in the Burnaby Clef Concerto Competition and won the top prize at the 8th International Russian Music Piano Competition. Mr. Joiner was the youngest finalist in the UBC Concerto Competition and was chosen to play with the UBC Symphony Orchestra. He has also won many awards from the Upper Island, Vancouver Kiwanis and Victoria Festivals and the Nanaimo Arts Council. Mr. Joiner was chosen to participate in the Morningside Music Bridge summer music programs in Shanghai in 2006 and in Calgary in 2007. Mr. Joiner has been featured many times as a guest artist for choir concerts and other events. He has performed three solo concerts, has been featured on both TV and radio and has performed with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.
