2018 Shean Piano Competition Winner Élisabeth Pion.

The First Prize winner of the under 17 category of the 2018 Montréal Symphony Orchestra Manulife Competition, Canadian-American pianist/composer Henry From has been named by the CBC as among CBC’s 30 Hot Canadian Classical Musicians Under 30 for 2019.

Recent performance highlights as a pianist include Beethoven’s Concerto No. 3 and Ravel’s G Major Concerto with the Vancouver Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra, and Mozart Piano Concerto No. 12 with the Ithaca Talent Education Orchestra. He also has performed in Boston, Warsaw, Calgary, Israel, and at the Rockport Chamber Music Festival with Trio Savyon, of which Henry is a member.

An accomplished composer as well, Henry has worked in collaboration with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the Vancouver Chamber Choir, the Turning Point Ensemble, and the Standing Wave ensemble. Recently, the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra presented his piece Isle of Pic, which won the 2020 Canadian Music Centre Prairie Region Emerging Composer Competition.

Henry studies piano with Amanda Chan at the Vancouver Academy of Music. Henry has spent the last three summers at Morningside Music Bridge and Orford Musique studying with teachers including André Laplante, Meng Chieh-Liu, Haesun Paik, and Katherine Chi.
