In 1999, Mr. Malikov immigrated with his family to Calgary, AB. There, he continued his studies with Dmitry Nesterov at the Mount Royal Conservatory, where he also had master classes and lessons with such masters as Anton Kuerti, Hung-Kuan Chen, Marc Durand and others. As part of the Conservatory Artists Series, Mr. Malikov also had the chance of performing chamber music alongside James Ehnes, Andres Cardenes and Pierre Amoyal.

Mr. Malikov was an extensive participant in the Kiwanis Festival and the Canadian Music Competition, where he has won several national awards in both solo and chamber divisions. He is a three-time winner of the Calgary Concerto Competition and a laureate of the Knigge, the Canadian Chopin, the Toronto Symphony and l’Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal Competitions. He is also an extensive participant of the Morningside Music Bridge, Babayan Academy and Banff summer programs.
