Scott MacIsaac has been studying piano since the age of six and a student of Marilyn Engle since 2007. A member of the Senior Piano Program at the Mount Royal University Academy of Music, he has also had the privilege of studying in master classes and residencies, with internationally renowned artists including Anton Kuerti, Angela Hewitt and Stephen Kovacevich.
In the past few years, Mr. MacIsaac has been the recipient of several honours and won several competitions. In July 2009, for the second consecutive year, Mr. MacIsaac won the Grand Prize at the Canadian Music Competition (CMC) National Finals. He was subsequently invited to perform the full first Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto with l’Orchestre de la Francophonie Canadienne in Montréal at the CMC Gala Concert.
In May of the same year, Mr. MacIsaac won third prize in the prestigious Toronto Symphony Orchestra National Piano Competition where he was also the youngest competitor. Mr. MacIsaac was selected as the scholarship winner of the first competition for Calgary Pro Musica Society Young Artists Development Programme. In the Alberta Provincial Music Festival, Mr. MacIsaac won first prize in 2008 and 2009. A winner of the Calgary Concerto Competition in 2007 and 2009, he has performed with the Calgary Civic Symphony. Mr. MacIsaac’s goal is to become an accomplished performing artist and prove that classical music can serve as a significant and powerful force in society.
